Motorcycle Locksmith Mont Albert
Small, quiet and mostly residential, Mont Albert 3127 keeps its bikes in garages, carports and driveways rather than on the street. Ostan Locksmiths drives to all of them, along with the parking around Hamilton Street and the new Union Station entrance. Keys cut from the lock when the last one is gone, spares, transponder programming and ignition repairs, all at the bike.
- Hamilton Street shops and the Union Station entrance streets
- Garage and carport jobs done without moving the bike
- Motorcycles, scooters and mopeds only, never cars or homes

Where Mont Albert Keys Go Wrong
A small suburb throws up a narrow set of problems, and we see the same few over and over. These are the ones that fill our Mont Albert diary.
A Quick Stop on Hamilton Street
Hamilton Street is one short row of shops, which means people park for five minutes and think nothing of it. Five minutes is long enough to leave a key on a counter or drop it into a bag that then goes home with somebody else. We work in the bays there, take the code from the lock and cut a replacement without the bike moving.
Garages Off Barloa and Zetland
Streets like Barloa Road and Zetland Road are full of single garages built for a 1950s car, with a bike squeezed in beside the mower. Space is tight and light is poor, and that is exactly where a barrel decides to seize. We bring our own light and work in the space available rather than asking for the bike to come out.
Around the Union Station Entrance
The northern entrance to Union Station opens into Mont Albert, and the streets around Churchill Street take the overflow parking from commuters. Bikes sit there from morning until well after dark. A key lost in the city means arriving back at a machine that will not start, in the dark, a long way from home. We come to that street.
The Second Bike in the Family
Households here often run a commuter and something bigger for weekends, and the weekend bike sits still for weeks between rides. Stillness is hard on ignition barrels and steering locks, particularly the older ones. When the good-weather bike refuses to unlock on the first warm Saturday, we free the lock or fit a fresh barrel in your driveway.

How Our Mont Albert Callout Works
Three steps, and the bike never leaves the spot it is in.
1. Call and describe
Call 0410 380 354 and tell us the bike, the problem and where in Mont Albert it is parked. We confirm a price before we travel.
2. We come to Mont Albert
We travel to the bike wherever it sits in Mont Albert — kerbside, car park, laneway or driveway. Nothing needs towing.
3. Ride away
We check ID and proof of ownership, cut or program the key or repair the lock, then test it before we leave.
Short Streets, Single Garages and the Rail Trench
Mont Albert is barely more than a square kilometre and a half, so we are rarely far from you once we are in the area. What slows things down is the detail: short streets that look alike, single garages set behind the house, and a rail trench that stops some streets from carrying straight through the way a map suggests they will.
So give us the number, the side of the street and where the bike actually sits. If it is in a garage, tell us whether the door lifts or slides and who will be home to open it. Everything is done there, at the machine, with no need for it to be started, wheeled out or taken anywhere else at any stage.
Single-car garages
Tight garages are normal here. We bring lighting and work in the space beside the bike rather than asking for it to be moved out.
Similar-looking streets
Several streets here run short and look much alike. A house number and the nearest corner keeps us from circling the block looking for the right bike.
Union Station streets
Commuter parking spreads through the streets near the northern entrance. Name the street rather than the station and we will arrive much closer to the bike.
Kingsley Gardens edge
Bikes park along the reserve on fine days. A gate or path entrance is enough to bring us straight to you without a street number.
Worth knowing: If the bike lives under a cover in a carport, pull the cover off before we arrive. It saves time and lets us see the lock straight away.

Mont Albert Motorcycle Locksmith FAQs
There is no station here any more. How do I tell you where I am?
Use street names. The old Mont Albert platform is gone and Union Station now serves the area, with its northern entrance on the Mont Albert side. For directions, the house number and nearest corner beat anything to do with the railway. If you are parked near the trench, mention which side of it you are on so we approach from the right direction.
My bike is in a garage that barely fits it. Is there enough room to work?
Almost always. We work beside the machine rather than around it, and the tools are hand-sized, so a single garage with the mower in the corner is fine. If the door is a tilt type and cannot stay open fully, say so and we will plan for it. Only in genuinely impossible spaces would we ask for the bike to be rolled out.
Can you cut a key if the blade snapped off in the ignition?
Yes. A snapped blade is a common ending to a worn barrel, and the broken piece has to come out before anything else happens. We extract it on site, check what damage the break did to the lock and then either service the barrel or replace it. A fresh key is cut to whichever lock ends up on the bike.
How do I know whether my bike has an immobiliser?
The registration papers and the owner’s manual usually say, and so does the key itself: a fat plastic head often hides a transponder chip, while a plain metal blade usually does not. Bikes with a proximity fob are a different arrangement again, and carry a separate mechanical emergency blade. Tell us the make, model and year and we will work it out with you.
Do you charge to come out to a small suburb like this?
We give you a single figure that covers the visit and the work, agreed on the phone before we travel. Mont Albert is a short hop from most of our runs through Surrey Hills and Box Hill, so it is never treated as out of the way. What we will not do is quote a number without knowing the bike, because the lock decides the job.
