The bike has sat all winter and the ignition will not turn. Is that a key problem?
Often it is the barrel rather than the key. Moisture, dust and a lack of use dry out the wafers inside, and forcing a stiff ignition is how keys snap. Leave it alone and call us. We attend at the house, work out whether the barrel needs cleaning, servicing or replacing, and cut new keys to the repaired lock if the old ones are worn.
Can you make a spare before I lose the original?
That is the sensible order to do it in, and yes. With a working key in hand the job is quicker and simpler than a lost-all-keys callout, and on transponder bikes the programming is usually more straightforward too. We come to the driveway, cut and program a second key, and you keep it somewhere separate from the bike and the first key.
