Can you reach a bike near the racecourse on a carnival day?
Usually yes, though it takes more planning than a normal day. Closures change which streets connect, so tell us the nearest cross street, the gate you parked by and which roads were shut on your way in. We come in from the closest open approach and walk the equipment the last stretch when we have to. Ringing before the crowd starts leaving makes everything smoother.
I ride deliveries and lost the key mid shift. What can you do?
Cut you a new one at the kerb and get you moving again. We read the ignition lock on the bike, cut a blade to match and program the transponder chip where your scooter uses one, all without the machine leaving its parking spot. Tell us you are working when you ring and we will be straight about when we can reach you rather than leaving you waiting on a maybe.
The bike is in a shared car park under one of the towers. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Shared and undercroft parking is ordinary work for us and the bike does not need to come out to the footpath. What we need is someone able to open the gate or door, the tower number, and a rough idea of where the machine is inside. We set up beside it, keep the area tidy and leave the space clear for other residents.
Is it safer to leave the bike where it is until you arrive?
In nearly every case, yes. Moving a bike without a key means pushing it, and that is how machines get dropped or clipped in traffic on a street as busy as Racecourse Road. Leave the steering lock engaged, keep the chain on if you have one, and wait with it if you can. We work wherever it stands, so there is nothing to gain from shifting it.
My fuel cap lock will not open. Can that be sorted at the kerb?
Generally it can. Fuel cap locks take a hard life on bikes parked outdoors, and grit, corrosion or a worn key will stop the cap turning long before the ignition gives trouble. We open, service or replace the cap lock on site and cut a key to match, so you are not left running one key for the ignition and another for the tank.
