ON THE GROUND IN FLEMINGTON

Flemington Jobs We See Week to Week

Between the racecourse, a busy shopping strip and some of the densest housing in the inner north west, Flemington produces a particular set of lock problems. These four lead the list.

Cup Carnival Kerbsides

During the spring carnival the streets around the racecourse fill from early morning, the kerbs pack solid and several roads close outright. Bikes are still parked in among it and keys still go astray between the gates and the tram stop. Tell us the nearest corner and which streets you saw shut, and we come in from the closest open side, carrying the gear the final stretch.

Delivery Riders on Racecourse Road

Racecourse Road runs on scooters from lunchtime onwards, and for those riders a dead ignition is lost income rather than an inconvenience. We treat it that way. Say you are working when you call, and we will tell you plainly when we can be there and what can be done at the kerb, whether that is a new key cut from the lock or a barrel repair.

The Estate Towers on Racecourse Road

The high rise blocks beside Debneys Park park hundreds of residents in shared ground level bays and undercroft areas, often with a gate between the bike and the street. None of that is a problem for us. Give us the tower number, where the bike is chained and who can open the gate, and we do the whole job without the bike being moved.

Newmarket Station Commuters

Plenty of Flemington riders park near Newmarket Station or the Pin Oak Crescent shops and take the train in for the day. Coming back in the evening to a bike whose key is somewhere in the city is a rough end to a commute. Leave the machine locked where it stands, ring us, and we will bring the blanks and coding gear to that spot.

How Our Flemington Callout Works

Three steps, and the bike never leaves the spot it is in.

1. Call and describe

Call 0410 380 354 and tell us the bike, the problem and where in Flemington it is parked. We confirm a price before we travel.

2. We come to Flemington

We travel to the bike wherever it sits in Flemington — kerbside, car park, laneway or driveway. Nothing needs towing.

3. Ride away

We check ID and proof of ownership, cut or program the key or repair the lock, then test it before we leave.

REACHING YOUR BIKE

Race Day Closures, Tower Car Parks and Narrow Streets

Flemington changes shape depending on the day. On a quiet Tuesday it is a straightforward run down Racecourse Road, and on Derby Day half the approaches are closed with traffic control on the corners. Add the tight streets around Wellington Street and Shields Street, plus gated car parks under the towers, and the value of a clear description over the phone becomes obvious before we have turned a wheel.

Start with a street number, or the venue or building you are standing beside. Then tell us the small things: front kerb or rear car park, gate or open access, and whether the bike is chained to something fixed. If an event is on, mention which roads were shut when you arrived. We confirm a price on the phone before we travel, so the figure is settled before we set out.

Event day approaches

Race meetings close roads around the course at short notice. Name the nearest open cross street and we will plan the run in around them before leaving.

Tower car parks

The estate blocks have shared ground bays and gated undercroft parking. Tell us the tower number and who is able to let us through the gate.

Narrow side streets

The streets off Racecourse Road are tight, with parked cars down both sides. We carry the equipment in on foot when there is nowhere sensible to stop.

Shopping strip bays

Kerb bays along the shopping strip are short term and always busy. We work from the footpath side and keep the rest of the bay usable.

Worth knowing: Take the make, model and year off the registration papers rather than trusting memory. Getting the year right decides which chip and which programming gear we bring.

COVERAGE

Flemington Streets and Landmarks We Cover

We work all of Flemington 3031, from the racecourse across to the Mount Alexander Road end. These are the spots our callouts land on most.

Flemington borders Kensington, Travancore, Ascot Vale and North Melbourne, and a bike just over any of those lines gets the same service.

Flemington Motorcycle Locksmith FAQs

Usually yes, though it takes more planning than a normal day. Closures change which streets connect, so tell us the nearest cross street, the gate you parked by and which roads were shut on your way in. We come in from the closest open approach and walk the equipment the last stretch when we have to. Ringing before the crowd starts leaving makes everything smoother.

Cut you a new one at the kerb and get you moving again. We read the ignition lock on the bike, cut a blade to match and program the transponder chip where your scooter uses one, all without the machine leaving its parking spot. Tell us you are working when you ring and we will be straight about when we can reach you rather than leaving you waiting on a maybe.

Not at all. Shared and undercroft parking is ordinary work for us and the bike does not need to come out to the footpath. What we need is someone able to open the gate or door, the tower number, and a rough idea of where the machine is inside. We set up beside it, keep the area tidy and leave the space clear for other residents.

In nearly every case, yes. Moving a bike without a key means pushing it, and that is how machines get dropped or clipped in traffic on a street as busy as Racecourse Road. Leave the steering lock engaged, keep the chain on if you have one, and wait with it if you can. We work wherever it stands, so there is nothing to gain from shifting it.

Generally it can. Fuel cap locks take a hard life on bikes parked outdoors, and grit, corrosion or a worn key will stop the cap turning long before the ignition gives trouble. We open, service or replace the cap lock on site and cut a key to match, so you are not left running one key for the ignition and another for the tank.
