Motorcycle Locksmith Ashburton
High Street is the middle of Ashburton 3147, and most of what we do here happens within a few minutes of it. Ostan Locksmiths drives to the bike wherever it has stopped, whether that is a village kerb, a station car park or a garage down a narrow drive, and cuts keys, programs transponders and repairs ignitions on the spot.
- High Street village and Alamein line callouts
- Narrow drives and rear garages across 3147

Motorcycle key cutting and programming equipment comes to the bike at the confirmed Australian service location.
Key cutting, transponder programming, replacement keys and ignition lock repairs are handled at the bike.
Before cutting or programming any key, Michael checks identification and proof of ownership.
Where Ashburton Riders Get Stuck
Ashburton is compact and leafy, with two stations, one busy strip and a lot of renovated houses on narrow blocks. The jobs here are shaped by exactly that.
High Street Village Kerbs
The village strip is busy from breakfast until the afternoon school run, and the parking bays turn over constantly. A rider who comes out of the butcher without a key has nowhere convenient to leave the bike. Stay with it, tell us which shop you are outside, and we work in the bay itself without asking anyone to move.
Two Stations on the Alamein Line
Ashburton and Alamein both sit inside the suburb, and riders leave bikes at each of them for the working day. Coming back at six to a key that has gone somewhere between the office and the platform is more common than you would think. We come to the station car park, work at the bike and have you riding rather than walking.
The Warner Avenue Pool Car Park
Between swimming lessons, the gym and school carnivals, the pool and recreation centre car park is one of the busiest patches of tarmac in Ashburton. Keys end up in lockers, kit bags and the bottom of the pool. If yours has disappeared, leave the bike parked and ring us from the car park rather than trying to get it home somehow.
Renovations and Half-Built Drives
Half of Ashburton seems to be under renovation at any given time, with skips on the nature strip, trade utes down the drive and a bike squeezed in behind all of it. That is fine by us, as long as we can stand next to the machine. Mention the building work when you ring so we know what we are walking into.

How Our Ashburton Callout Works
Three steps, and the bike never leaves the spot it is in.
1. Call and describe
Call 0410 380 354 and tell us the bike, the problem and where in Ashburton it is parked. We confirm a price before we travel.
2. We come to Ashburton
We travel to the bike wherever it sits in Ashburton — kerbside, car park, laneway or driveway. Nothing needs towing.
3. Ride away
We check ID and proof of ownership, cut or program the key or repair the lock, then test it before we leave.
Narrow Drives, School Traffic and Station Car Parks
Ashburton drives easily outside two windows in the day. Between half past eight and nine, and again in the middle of the afternoon, the streets around the schools and High Street fill up and stay that way for half an hour. Everything still gets done, it simply means we would rather know in advance where to aim for and how long the last hundred metres will take.
The other Ashburton quirk is the driveways. Many are single-width strips beside a period house, with a garage at the rear that a car has not fitted in for twenty years. Bikes live in those garages. Tell us if the drive is blocked, whether the garage is unlocked and who is home, and we will bring the gear down the side on foot.
Village parking bays
On High Street we work in the bay the bike already occupies. The shop you are outside is the fastest way to describe where you are standing.
Station car parks
Ashburton and Alamein both have parking. Say which station and roughly where along it the bike is, because both car parks look the same in the dark.
Single-width driveways
A blocked drive is not a problem. We park on the street, walk in with what the job needs and set up beside the bike at the back of the block.
Trail and reserve edges
Bikes left near the Gardiners Creek Trail can be hard to describe. Give us the nearest street entrance rather than a point on the path itself.
Worth knowing: Take the make, model and year from the registration papers before you ring. It is the fastest way to be sure the right equipment is on board.
Not sure we can reach your bike?
Describe the spot and we will tell you straight away. We work Ashburton every week and very little surprises us. Call 0410 380 354.

Ashburton Motorcycle Locksmith FAQs
The bike is in a garage at the back of a long, narrow drive. Can you still work on it?
Yes, and it is how a good share of Ashburton jobs go. We park on the street, carry the equipment down the side and work at the bike in the garage. Nothing needs to be wheeled out to the footpath. Just make sure the garage is open and there is enough space to stand beside the machine while we work.
I commute from Ashburton station and left the bike there overnight. Will it be worse in the morning?
Not usually, though a bike sitting alone overnight in a station car park does attract attention. If the key is gone, ring us as soon as the phone is answered in the morning and we will come to it. The work is done at the bay, so the bike does not need to be recovered or trailered before anything else can happen.
The fuel cap lock on my bike has seized. Is that worth calling about?
It is, because a seized fuel cap tends to become a broken one the moment somebody attacks it with pliers. We can free the lock, service it or replace the assembly beside the bike, and where the model allows we key the replacement to the ignition key so you carry one key rather than two. It is a short job compared with a lost key.
Can you do the house locks or the car while you are here?
No. We work on motorcycles, scooters and mopeds and nothing else, so a car in the same driveway or a jammed back door is outside what we do. It is a deliberate limit rather than a gap. Every tool, blank and piece of programming equipment in the van is there for two-wheeled machines, which is why the roadside work goes the way it should.
What should I have ready before I ring?
The make, model and year of the bike, the address or the nearest cross street, and a straight description of what has happened: key lost, key broken, lock jammed or the bike simply will not turn over. If you still have one key, say so. With those details we can confirm a price on the phone before we travel.
No Key, No Ride in Ashburton?
High Street bay, station car park, pool car park or a garage at the end of the drive, we come to the bike. Call 0410 380 354 and tell us where it is standing.
