MOBILE MOTORCYCLE LOCKSMITH · ALPHINGTON VIC 3078

Motorcycle Locksmith Alphington

Alphington sits in a bend of the Yarra, and we cover every street of 3078 with the workshop already in the van. Ostan Locksmiths is mobile only: Michael drives to wherever the motorcycle, scooter or moped is sitting and does the work there. Keys cut from the lock with nothing to copy, spares, transponder coding, ignition and seat lock repairs, all beside the bike.

ACROSS ALPHINGTON

The Jobs Alphington Sends Us

Between the station, the new riverside apartments and two busy through-roads, Alphington produces a particular set of callouts. Here are the four we see most.

Inside the YarraBend Estate

The old paper mill site has turned into a dense pocket of apartments with basement parking, fobbed shutters and bike bays tucked behind columns. Getting to a bike there is more about access than distance. Tell us the building, the level and who can let us through the shutter, and we will have that arranged before the van leaves rather than working it out at the gate.

Left at Alphington Station

Bikes get chained near Alphington Station in the morning and collected long after dark, and a key that goes missing in between leaves you standing on the footpath with a machine you cannot start. There is no need to move it anywhere. We cut a replacement from the lock right at the rack, code the chip if the model needs one and you ride home from there.

Stopped on the Chandler Highway

The Chandler Highway carries a lot of traffic through Alphington and it is a poor place to be stranded. If a barrel jams or a key breaks on that stretch, get the bike onto a side street or a driveway if you safely can, then call. We would rather work a metre off a quiet kerb than in a live lane, and we will talk that through with you.

Delivery Scooters on Heidelberg Road

Heidelberg Road keeps a steady stream of delivery scooters moving through Alphington, and for those riders a dead ignition is lost pay rather than an inconvenience. We treat it that way. Say on the phone that you are working, give us the model and year, and we will be straight about when we can get there and what we can do at the kerb.

How Our Alphington Callout Works

Three steps, and the bike never leaves the spot it is in.

1. Call and describe

Call 0410 380 354 and tell us the bike, the problem and where in Alphington it is parked. We confirm a price before we travel.

2. We come to Alphington

We travel to the bike wherever it sits in Alphington — kerbside, car park, laneway or driveway. Nothing needs towing.

3. Ride away

We check ID and proof of ownership, cut or program the key or repair the lock, then test it before we leave.

WHERE THE BIKE IS

Basements, Bike Racks and Busy Through-Roads

Alphington packs three different parking worlds into a small suburb. There are the older weatherboard streets where bikes live in back sheds, the estate near the river where everything is underground behind a shutter, and the main roads where a bike stops wherever it has to. Each one needs slightly different information from you, but none of them stops the job going ahead.

For a house, a street number is enough. For an apartment, we want the building name or number, the parking level and the arrangement for the shutter. For a roadside stop, give us the closest cross street and which side of the road you are on, because Heidelberg Road and the Chandler Highway are both awkward to double back on once the van has gone past.

Basement bike bays

Estate basements need a fob or a resident at the shutter. Sort that before we set off and the visit runs without anyone waiting outside.

Station bike racks

Bikes and scooters chained at the station rack are simple for us. Tell us which side of the line you parked on and we will walk straight to it.

Main road stops

Traffic on Heidelberg Road makes kerbside work slower. If you can safely move the bike to a side street, do that before you call and we will meet you there.

Back sheds and yards

Older Alphington homes keep the bike in a rear shed or down a side path. Unlock the gate and we will work where it stands.

Worth knowing: Have the registration papers in front of you when you ring. The exact model year decides which blanks and programming tools come along for the trip.

Alphington Motorcycle Locksmith FAQs

Yes, provided somebody can let us through the shutter. Basement parking is not a barrier, it is just a step to organise first. Give us the building, the level and the bay number when you ring, and arrange for a resident or the building manager to open up. We then carry the cutting and coding gear down and do the whole job in the bay.

Yes. Starting with nothing is the normal case rather than the hard case. We take the code from the lock on the bike itself, cut a blade to match it and then program the transponder if the model carries an immobiliser. It all happens at the kerb or in the driveway. Bring the registration papers out with you so we can confirm the exact model and year.

It varies with the make and the year, so we would rather explain it on the phone than throw a number at you here. Cutting the blade is the quick part. Programming depends on how the immobiliser is set up and whether an existing key is available. When you ring with the model and year, we will describe what is involved and confirm a price before we travel.

We do. Fuel cap locks, seat locks and helmet locks all seize or wear out, usually from weather and grit rather than anything you did. We work on them where the bike is parked, repairing the lock where that is sensible and replacing it where it is not. Tell us which lock is stuck and how it is behaving, and we will bring the right parts.

Alphington is squarely inside the area we work every week, so it is not treated as an outlying trip. Rather than quote anything blind, we ask what the bike is, what has happened and where it is sitting, then we confirm a price on the phone before we travel. You will know what the visit involves before the van leaves, not afterwards.
