Motorcycle Locksmith Kensington
Ostan Locksmiths is a mobile motorcycle locksmith working across Kensington 3031. Between the Macaulay Road shops, the terrace streets off Bellair Street and the newer blocks down at Kensington Banks, most bikes here park where they fit rather than where the owner would choose. We drive to the bike, cut lost keys from the lock, program transponders and repair ignitions on the spot.
- Kerbside work on Macaulay Road, Bellair Street and the Banks
- Lost keys cut from the lock beside the bike, no tow
- Motorcycles, scooters and mopeds only, never cars or homes

Key cutting, transponder programming, replacement keys and ignition lock repairs are handled at the bike.

Kensington Callouts We Handle Most
Kensington packs a lot into a small grid, and the callouts follow it: the shopping strip, the two stations, the old terraces and the racecourse end of the suburb.
Macaulay Road Mid-Morning
The strip fills up early with people ducking in for coffee, groceries or a haircut, and a key that goes missing between two of those errands leaves the bike stranded at an angle park. There is no need to push it anywhere or hunt around for a tow. Ring us with the shop you are standing outside, and we cut and program a replacement key right there at the kerb.
Commuter Bikes at Kensington Station
Riders leave bikes near Kensington and Macaulay stations all day and train into the city, which means the problem is usually discovered at dusk in a quiet side street. A steering lock that will not release or a key lost somewhere in town both end the same way, with us coming to the bike. Call while you are still on the train and we will time the run to suit.
Terraces With No Off-Street Parking
Plenty of Kensington cottages have a front gate, a hallway and nowhere at all to keep a bike, so it lives on the street or squeezed down a bluestone lane. Those lanes are too tight for anything but walking in, which is exactly how we work. Give us the house number and mention the lane, and we bring the cutting and programming gear to the bike on foot.
Race Week Around Epsom Road
Epsom Road and the streets beside the racecourse change character on carnival days, with extra parking restrictions, heavier traffic and crowds walking through. Bikes still need to start at the end of it all. Tell us which side of Epsom Road you are on and the nearest cross street, and we plan the approach around whatever is closed rather than circling in the queue.

How Our Kensington Callout Works
Three steps, and the bike never leaves the spot it is in.
1. Call and describe
Call 0410 380 354 and tell us the bike, the problem and where in Kensington it is parked. We confirm a price before we travel.
2. We come to Kensington
We travel to the bike wherever it sits in Kensington — kerbside, car park, laneway or driveway. Nothing needs towing.
3. Ride away
We check ID and proof of ownership, cut or program the key or repair the lock, then test it before we leave.
Permit Zones, Bluestone Lanes and Race Days
Kensington was laid out long before anyone owned two vehicles, so the parking is tight and heavily signed. Residential permit zones cover most of the grid, the lanes behind the terraces are barely a car wide, and the newer estates near the river keep their bikes in basements and gated yards. None of that stops the work, because everything happens beside the bike, but it does decide how we get in and what we carry.
A street number is the fastest thing you can give us. If you do not have one, name the shop, the park or the corner you are standing on and we will find you from that. Where the bike sits behind a roller door, a boom gate or an intercom, say so on the phone so access is arranged before we set off rather than worked out while we stand at the kerb.
Permit street parking
Most jobs here happen at a signed kerb. We work tight against the parked line and keep the traffic lane clear while the key is cut.
Bluestone rear lanes
The lanes behind the terraces are too narrow to drive into. We park on the nearest street and walk the equipment down to the bike.
Basements at the Banks
Newer blocks near the river keep bikes underground. Tell us the level, the bay number and whether a fob or intercom is needed to get in.
Racecourse event days
Carnival traffic and temporary signs change the run in. Name the nearest open cross street and we will come from that side, on foot if that is quicker.
Worth knowing: Read the make, model and year off the registration certificate before you call. That is what decides which key blanks and programming gear travel with us.
Not sure we can reach your bike?
Describe the spot and we will tell you straight away. We work Kensington every week and very little surprises us. Call 0410 380 354.

Kensington Motorcycle Locksmith FAQs
I have lost the only key to my bike in Kensington. Does it need towing anywhere?
No. We cut a new key from the bike’s own lock at the kerb, so the original is never needed. Once the blade is cut we program the transponder where the model uses one, and the bike starts before we pack up. Give us the make, model and year on the phone and we confirm a price on the phone before we travel.
Can you work on a bike parked in a rear laneway off Bellair Street?
Yes, and it comes up regularly. The lanes behind the terraces are too narrow to drive down, so we park on the nearest street and carry the gear in. Nothing about the job needs a workshop or a level floor beyond the ground next to the bike. Just tell us which lane it is and which house the bike sits behind, so we walk the right one.
My scooter's ignition barrel is worn and the key just spins. Is that fixable on site?
Usually it is. Worn wafers and a tired barrel are common on scooters that have done years of short trips around the inner west, and we carry replacement barrels and the tools to fit them beside the bike. Where the barrel can be repaired we do that, and where it needs replacing we cut the new key to match, so you are not left carrying two.
Do you come out during the spring racing carnival when Epsom Road is packed?
We do. Carnival days change the traffic and the parking signs, not the work itself. Give us the nearest cross street and tell us what looked closed when you parked, and we plan the approach from the open side. If the last stretch is easier on foot, we carry the equipment in rather than sitting in a queue with everyone else.
When can I actually get through to someone on the phone?
The phone is answered from 7am to 10pm, seven days a week, and inside those hours you speak to Michael directly rather than a call centre. Outside them the phone simply is not answered, so nothing is recorded and nothing is waiting in the morning. If your bike goes down late at night, ring at 7am and we will work out the day from there.
Bike Stranded in Kensington?
Angle park on Macaulay Road, a lane behind the terraces or a basement bay at the Banks, we come to the bike. Call 0410 380 354 between 7am and 10pm, any day.
