My street is narrow and cars are parked on both sides. Is that a problem?
Not really. It is normal for most of Hughesdale, and we plan for it. The van stops in the closest safe spot, sometimes a house or two along, and the gear comes to the bike from there. Nothing about cutting a key or programming a chip needs the vehicle parked next to the machine, so a tight street costs a minute at most.
My key snapped off in the ignition. Can the broken piece be removed?
Usually it can, and it should be done before anything else. We extract the broken section from the barrel without damaging the wafers where that is possible, then cut a fresh key to suit. If the barrel has been chewed up by someone trying to force the stub out, we can repair or replace it on the spot and match it to the new key.
My partner and I share the bike and there is only one key. Can we get a second?
That is one of the easier jobs we do. With a working key present we duplicate the blade and program a second transponder to the bike, so both of you carry your own. It is worth doing while the original still exists, because a spare made in a driveway on a Tuesday is a far simpler exercise than a lost key on a Saturday night.
My Honda has H.I.S.S. Does that stop a key being made at the roadside?
It does not. H.I.S.S. is Honda’s immobiliser, and the transponder chip sits inside an otherwise conventional cut key, so the blade is cut to the bike’s lock in the usual way and the chip is then programmed to the machine. We carry the equipment with us. Give us the model and year on the phone so the right blanks are in the van.
Can you come out on a Sunday morning?
Yes. Weekends are no different from weekdays here, and the phone is answered from 7am to 10pm every day of the week. Call, describe the bike and where it is standing, and we will tell you honestly when we can be in Hughesdale. If the day is already full we will say so rather than leave you waiting on a maybe.
