Leave it in the bay and call us. We attend, read the cutting from the bike’s own lock, produce a key at the kerb and program the transponder where your model uses one. Nothing is towed and nothing leaves the street. If the bay has a time limit, mention it on the phone so we can plan around it properly.
My bike has a proximity fob rather than a normal key. Can you still get me going?
Often yes, because systems like Kawasaki KIPASS, BMW Keyless Ride and Ducati Hands Free carry a separate mechanical emergency blade for exactly this situation. That blade can be cut on site so you can at least open the seat or steering lock. What happens with the fob itself depends on the model, so tell us the bike and year when you ring.
Can you get to a bike left at Essendon station car park?
Yes, station jobs are routine. The main thing is telling us which entrance and which side of the line, because the parking spreads either side and a wrong guess wastes both our time. Once we are at the bike everything happens there: cutting, programming and testing. You ride out of the car park rather than arranging a truck to collect it.
How do I know what the job will cost before you turn up?
We go through it on the phone. Once we know the make, model and year, whether any key still exists and where the bike is sitting, we confirm a price on the phone before we travel. That is settled before anyone gets in the van, not once we are standing next to your bike in an Essendon driveway with the tools out.
While you are on site, do you also do house or car keys?
No, and we would rather be clear about it. Ostan Locksmiths works on motorcycles, scooters and mopeds only. We do not do cars, houses or business premises, and we do not carry the equipment for them.
